How To Triple Your Traffic…From Mostly Organic Search

The Company

Luxurylivingsamui.com is the website of a boutique real estate broker on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand – a company that began local and brick and mortar and has since developed into a leading online luxury housing broker for the Thai region.

The Challenge

When Engine Ready came on board, Luxury Living Samui was not performing well in relation to their top competitors, even though the local reputation of the brokerage was quite good. They didn’t have a sound SEO strategy in place. What they did have was a good product—in other words, quality listings. Analyzing user engagement, we found that people who found the page relevant to their search queries were often sticking around on the site long enough to find what they were looking for—a good sign. The trouble was, they weren’t ranking well on their keywords and the keywords were often pointing to irrelevant landing pages. They were being outmaneuvered by their competitors, and so, showing up in the 5-10 rankings for important keywords where they really needed to get into the top 3. The LLS team brought Engine Ready on board to fix the situation. What we ended up doing was a complete overhaul of the site content and architecture.

The Solution

We began this project by analyzing the traffic flows coming into the site. What keywords were bringing traffic from where and to what landing page. What we initially found was a tangle of inefficient pathways: traffic that didn’t convert. By rebuilding the site’s architecture, (the technical, functional, aesthetic attributes of the website), we not only made the pathway from search term to relevant content more fluid, but we optimized the site for user experience. Where the headers appear, what ends up below the fold, where the calls to action are, how attractive and logical the appearance is. All these factors affect the user’s ability to find what they’re after and be shepherded toward the end goal: a sale.

This is where Engine Ready’s full service approach to SEO had a dramatic effect: We worked on the design, development, and above all content of the site. We reworked the text based on our new keyword strategy, a mixture of broad and hyper-specific keywords focused on logical pathways to specific content on the site. We reordered and redesigned the presentation both for the user and for the search engine bots. In other words we completely optimized the website’s content both on the user level and on the meta level so that users and search engine bots alike could be directed to the key info by the most direct, efficient path.
